BSB50820 – DIPLOMA OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Nationally accredited project management training designed for experienced project managers wishing to gain further knowledge and skills as well as those who seek formal recognition of their successful experience and knowledge through a qualification.  The Diploma of Project Management is also designed for project team members who are looking to take the next step in their career to being directly responsible for the planning implementation  and finalisation of a project.

This course combines best-practice advanced project management theory with practical examples of workplace application. They offer real world examples to demonstrate how the practical application of theory can deliver outstanding projects.

After completing this course, SEEC Ability students will have a broadened knowledge and understanding of project management principles and processes to effectively contribute to the management of a project, or to have responsibility for a particular aspect across the entire project lifecycle.

You will be equipped with an understanding of project management methodologies with the application of tools, techniques and methods and will be able to:

  • Integrate and balance all project management and technical elements of the project to ensure objectives are aligned with business strategies;
  • Determine project objectives and develop a plan to manage project scope and scope changes throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Develop schedules for tracking project activities;
  • Analyse costs to produce a budget for management of project expenditure;
  • Apply quality management, assurance and control principles in the delivery of projects;

  • Understand teamwork, leadership and the impact of people on achieving project outcomes;
  • Determine human resource requirements, skill sets and achievement levels for project activities, including staff development and stakeholder management;

  • Plan project communications to generate, collect, disseminate, store and dispose of project information in a timely and accurate manner through formal structures and processes;

  • Identify and analyse stakeholders and plan for the delivery of requirements;

  • Identify, analyse and treat risks to ensure the project is not adversely affected;
  • Determine procurement, select contractors and manage suppliers and contractors on an ongoing basis;
  • Apply project controls throughout the project lifecycle; and
  • Identify and implement recommendations and lessons learned to continually improve projects

The Diploma of Project Management is a nationally recognised, competency-based qualification. This course combines best-practice project management theory with practical examples of workplace application

12 months to 2 years – dependent upon mode of delivery

It is suggested that participants have:

  • Certificate IV in Project Management or equivalent OR

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Project Manager and be able to access a work-based project to demonstrate application of knowledge and skills

  • Students should aim to undertake significant project work during the course to provide supporting workplace evidence to demonstrate their competency.

  • Good literacy and numeracy

  • Access to computer and internet

For this Nationally Recognised Qualification, the assessment for BSB41515 is against the competency standards in the Business Service Training Package.

Students are required to undertake a number of assessment activities, including:

  • Assessment tasks

  • Written question and answers: and

  • Provide a portfolio of evidence

Students can expect to spend 40 to 60 hours on assessment tasks.

This course provides a practical hands-on style workshop that addresses the key knowledge and skills required by Project Managers. It incorporates a blend of formal learning, experiences and interactive sessions that provide a sound understanding of how to manage the areas of greatest importance to most Project Managers.
